The best ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in St. Pete this year

Ready for a fiesta? It’s a lucky year when Cinco de Mayo lands on a Friday, and this week, St. Pete is primed to go all out for the occasion. We always update our list of the top 10 weekend events, and several of these will make the cut this time around, but we wanted to add in some extra space for all the Cinco-specific parties happening this weekend, because there are plenty.

From a massive downtown block party, to charity golf, a comedy night, and face painting, these are some of the best ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in St. Pete. Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at The Galley
All Week
Downtown’s local tavern is going all out with a full week of specials, capped off with a massive celebration on Friday where they hope to set a record for Corona sales. In addition to food specials and live music, there will be a $19.95 bottomless Corona bar.

Fiesta St. Pete Downtown Block Party
Friday, May 5, 4pm – Late
Fiesta St. Pete is shutting down the road in front of The Avenue and Park & Rec for a massive block party in the streets with tons of drink specials, a live mariachi band on the outdoor stage, stilt walkers, fire performers, pinatas, go go dancers, and live DJ sets all night long. Plus, there will be specialty food all night, including street tacos, nachos, elote, churros, and more.

Three-story fiesta at Red Mesa Cantina
Friday, May 5, 10 am – 8 pm
Red Mesa Cantina is throwing their biggest Cinco party yet, as all three floors will be open to the public with drink giveaways, a DJ, tarot card readings, delicious food, and much more.

Cinco de Mayo bar crawls
Friday, May 5, various times
Our friends at Downtown Crawlers have become a staple for themed bar crawls, and they’re going big this time around with three different bar crawls in St. Pete (and even some more in Tampa, if you feel like crossing the bridge). Choose from downtown, Grand Central, or St. Pete Beach bar crawls and enjoy specials and free shots along the way.

Cinco de Mayo at Prima Cantina
Friday, May 5, 11 am – 10 pm
The newest Mexican restaurant in town has become an immediate star on the beach, and the Baja-inspired hotspot is ringing in its first Cinco de Mayo in appropriate fashion with live music, fantastic drinks, and a slew of food specials, all on St. Pete Beach.

Coastal Creative’s “Cinco De Mayo Best of the Best” Comedy Competition
Friday, May 5, 7:30 – 11 pm
Get ready to laugh your way into the night with some of the funniest comics around, as they compete for a $750 cash prize and the title of the best comic in the competition. Plus, the event is also a live taping, so guests will witness comedy history in the making as they help the talented comedians pitch their sets to major platforms.

49th Annual Cinco De Mayo Golf Weekend
Friday and Saturday
Benefitting the Parc Center for Disabilities, this two-day fiesta is fun for a good cause. Action starts with the Friday Night Party at The James Museum, followed by a Saturday full of golf in the sunshine at Countryside Country Club.

Cinco de Mayo at Nueva Cantina
Friday, May 5, all day
The South St. Pete staple for Mexican eats will be celebrating the holiday in appropriate fashion with a full day and night of great food and drink, plus free face painting from 5-8 pm, live music, and happy hour margarita specials from 4-6 pm.

Mad Beach Cantina Block Party
Friday, May 5, 11 am – 11 pm
If you’re feeling beachy, the new spot for Mexican eats on Madeira Beach is cooking up a full menu of traditional Mexican specialties for the occasion, plus live music and entertainment on an outdoor stage, including live mariachi bands and traditional dances.
