Ti Bamboo Caribbean Restaurant and Lounge debuts in St. Pete

Ti Bamboo Caribbean Restaurant and Lounge debuts in St. Pete

Ti Bamboo Caribbean Restaurant and Lounge quietly opened this summer at 9291 Dr. MLK Jr. St. N. It’s a hard spot to miss with a large scale Bob Marley mural painted on the front by local muralist Derek Donnelly.

Donnelly began working on the mural in April of 2021, his posting of the project was our introduction to the Ti Bamboo Restaurant. This is why we love when local artists and local businesses team up. It creates an ecosystem of support and awareness.

Here’s what Donnelly wrote when beginning the project this spring:

“I am ecstatic to be rocking this Bob Marley portrait for Bamboo Caribbean Restaurant opening soon on 93rd Ave and 9th street N! (across from the U haul place).” Donnelly continues, “Marley has been one of my favorite musicians, activists and people since my father introduced him to me at a young age. His wise words and positive spirit have helped me countless times in my life.”

Donnelly notes that honoring the music legend with a 20-foot mural in his hometown was a dream come true.

“My heart is reallly in this one and I think this just might become the best portrait I’ve done to date,” Donnelly wrote.

The restaurant has showcased items such as shrimp curry, jerk chicken, oxtail, curry goat dinner plates, and snapper escovitch (crispy fried fish soaked in a spicy pickled sauce made with lots of white onion, carrot strips, pimento berries and scotch bonnet pepper).

Ti Bamboo is located at 9291 Martin Luther King Jr Street North. Follow the restaurant on Facebook for updates on new specials.

There is ample outdoor seating available with colorful picnic tables situated along a shell lot.
