A highly-anticipated fast casual concept has made its debut in downtown St. Pete. Black Cattle Burger Company is officially open at 17 3rd Street North, bringing juicy smash burgers, hand-breaded chicken tenders, and soft-serve ice cream to the neighborhood.

Black Cattle is being opened by the same group behind its next-door neighbor Top Slice (and the upcoming Fortu Pan-Asian steakhouse). This new venture, like Top Slice, caters to the full range of eaters, opening for lunch and dinner daily. Black Cattle will be dishing up good eats from 11 am – midnight on Sunday-Wednesday, and 11 am – 3 am Thursday-Saturday, according to its website.

Black Cattle Burger Co. is “reclaiming classic”

Black Cattle’s focus is on using top-notch ingredients, starting with its thin and crispy 3-oz patties made of a blend of ground chuck, brisket, and short rib. Think of the concept as a higher end Shake Shack, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and quality service alike.

Most burgers come with a double patty, though singles are available, as well. And while the toppings don’t get too wild, there are plenty of fun options on the menu, including the Black Pearl with griddled mushrooms and truffle aioli, as well as the Hamburguesa topped with a potato crisp, pickle, fry sauce, pineapple, and bacon.

The chicken tenders are hand breaded, seasoned well, and served hot and crispy with house-made sauces. They are also available in sandwich form with Black Cattle’s brioche buns. Additionally, the restaurant serves up crispy seasoned fries (add queso if you’re feeling cheesy), a fried chicken Caesar salad, soft serve ice cream, and fried apple pie a la mode.
